Women leaders of Bihar in Indian freedom struggle

When we talk about Indian freedom struggle Bihar cannot be kept away. Bihar was one of the centers of the freedom movement, and women in Bihar participated in various ways to contribute to the struggle for independence.Let's talk about some of those women leaders of bihar who played a significant role  in bihar as well as in Indian history.
 
Prabhavati Devi
She was an Indian political leader. She got the strength to fight for the nation from Jai prakash Narayan ( her husband) who encouraged her to study and master in spinning the charkha. She was active during 1930s and got captured in Lucknow in 1932 during the call of a Blacklist of unfamiliar merchandise . She established Mahila Charkha Samiti at Patna to include abandoned and deserted women in spinning the charkha( gandhian development model).She was also one of the founding members of the All India Women's Conference. Prabhavati devi did many developmental activities especially for women . However, while working for the nation she got into the eye of Britishers so once again she got captured and sent to Bhagalpur jail when quit India Movement began .
Vindhiyavasini devi
Another women leader was vindhiyavasini devi.She was greatly involved herself to social works when she attended meeting with Gandhiji in 1919. Her courage and energy affected many and people sent their little girls to fight against alcohol. However, during the salt march in 1930 ,she got arrested and sent to muzaffarpur jail in 1932. 
Rampyari devi
Rampyari Devi was another famous women leaders from bihar who was so keen to participate in freedom struggle that after several days of her marriage( with Jagat Narayan Singh on 12 March 1930),she took part in salt Satyagraha. She was imprisoned many times. But people supported her so much that she defeated well known leader Sahjanand Saraswati and stayed part of All India Congress Committee till 1939.

Tarkarshwari sinha
Tarkeshwari Sinha was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence and social reform, and she became an active participant in the Indian freedom struggle.
 She organized satyagraha and led protests against the British government and their policies in Bihar. She joined the quit India Movement at the age of 16. She was chosen the leader of the Bihar understudies congress. Tarkeshwari Sinha was a strong advocate for women's empowerment and worked tirelessly to improve the status of women in Bihar. She started a women's organization called the Jeevan Sudha Sangh, which focused on women's education, health, and economic empowerment. She also founded a school for girls in Muzaffarpur.
Tara Rani Srivastava
Tara Rani from Saran (Bihar)was another leader who used to take ladies in and around her town to challenge pilgrims rule . She joined quit India Movement in 1942 and intended to raise the Indian banner on top of the siwan police station. A group was assembled and started their walk towards the siwan police station and shouted 'Inquilab '. The police started lathi charge on the group, her husband phulendu babu was injured, still she continued to match towards the police station along with the group . This incident showed how Tara Rani was emotionally strong and  had courage to fight for the nation.


Their roles in achieving the freedom can't be overshadowed.These women leaders contributed to various movements of Indian freedom struggle and served as influential voices for change and independence. Their efforts inspired future generations of leaders.
